The Chinaman – Stephen Leather
The Foreigner is adapted from the fourth novel by Stephen Leather called The Chinaman, published in 1992.
After watching helplessly as his two eldest daughters are killed by Thai pirates, the Chinaman flees the violence of South Asia to London with his wife and baby daughter. After watching his daughter grow up into a young woman, he feels comfortable and secure that he had finally escaped the horrors of his homeland.
Then his family is taken from him after an IRA bomber detonates a bomb at a department store where they were shopping.
After trying to find out from authorities who did and and what was being done about it, he finally decides to take revenge.
