IS BASED ON…
It – Stephen King
Master horror novelist Stephen King published It in 1986, a story about seven children who are terrorized by an entity that exploits the fears and phobias of its victims. It often appeared as a clown to attract it’s preferred prey – children.
The inspiration for It came from the children’s story ‘Three Billy Goats Gruff’ which featured a troll that lived under a bridge that would threaten to eat goats as they passed.
Stephen King’s story alternates between two time periods and the film, which is also titled It: Chapter One deals with the earlier time period with a sequel in the works to bring to life the later time period.
This isn’t the first time It has been adapted – the story was also the source for the 1990 miniseries of the same name with Tim Curry as Pennywise.
