Fences is a 2016 drama film starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis.
The film was directed by Denzel Washington and received four Oscar nominations at the 89th Annual Academy Awards including Best Adapted Screenplay by August Wilson. Wilson, who died in 2005 wrote the play Fences, (first published in 1983) which the movie is based on.
Actress Viola Davis won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for her performance in the film.
